Meet Your True Self Best Friend

I had a really funny moment the other day.  There’s something I’ve been wanting that hasn’t shown up yet, and I was becoming highly irritated about it.  My conscious mind tried to bully my subconscious mind into submission.  Within minutes, I heard a thought that made my head jolt back.  “We are One.  Who are you trying to convince?”  I busted into laughter.  The spell I was under was instantly broken.

What I really want to share with you is the insight that followed.  I started thinking about best friends.  Who is your best friend, and why is that person your best friend?  When you need to talk, do you expect your friend to be there?  When you need help, do you know you can count on this person?  When times are good and times are bad, is that person steady in your life?  When you set out on a new adventure, does that person come along?  Sometimes or many times, you don’t even have to ask… that person was a step ahead of you.  This person in your life keeps coming back for more even when you’ve been difficult or hurtful.

I thought… if only we could know that these are the qualities of our true self all the time.  Our true self is our true best friend.  Sometimes, we approach this best friend as if he/she is holding out the goods from us.  But really, this is just a belief that this part of us is authority over us rather than partner with us.  It is really a partnership born of cooperation.

The next time you identify something you want to bring into your life, and you feel it is impossible…. remember your true self best friend.  Call up the feeling you would have if you picked up the phone to call the most reliable person in your life.  Call on your true self from the same feeling of knowingness as you do this reliable person.  And, don’t be surprised if you get a shockingly quick manifestation!

Just after I had this thought process, I received a telephone call from a new friend of mine.  It was a great wink from the universe because he was talking about how he was going to help me with something, and then he said “I’m going to be your new best friend.”
